Baby it's cold outside

It's been so cold lately, which means being stuck inside ... a lot. It's hard to keep 2 littles happy with few outlets so we have been reading lots of books and eating lots of suckers. They're only little once right?

Happy 2015!

I can hardly believe another year has come and gone. As I sit down to make resolutions for this coming year, I can't help but be grateful and remember all the fun I had over the past year with my crazy little family. This year I have big plans, including sleeping in past 8 am (lol, I wish). I am so blessed and am excited for what adventures will come in 2015. My resolutions, in no particular order:

** Unplug. From my phone, the internet and television. I want to be 100% present when my kids are awake and that just isn't realistic if I have my phone / internet etc. I also want to limit the amount of screen time for the kiddos as well. Not that they watch a ton, but I hope we can keep it to less than 1 hour a day. Seems reasonable.

** Be patient. Try not to overact when messes are made, things are broken and babies throw fits. All of these things are going to continue to happen, and I need to be the adult and not get so frustrated. If that means the house is a little messy, ok. Just don't yell about it. It's not going to help anyway.

** Play more. Let them be little. Get down on the ground and play with both kiddos everyday. Work with Pumpkin on her letters and help Bub learn his colors. Read more. Go on walks.

Keeping Christmas alive

Even though Christmas is over, we are still in full Christmas mode over here with family and friends. Both kiddos are in heaven with the extra attention and playmates. Today we decided to spend a day at the childrens museum and work off some of the post Christmas sugar rush.

One of our favorite parts of the museum is the turtle pond and baby chicks. We were lucky today and had a brand new chick and a few fluffy chicks to enjoy.

This girl (and her brother) are obsessed with the cars and pretend ambulance. They love to drive, honk and pretend to be "helping the sick person".

How you doin'?

Baby boy is back to his happy and healthy self. I'm so grateful for modern medicine and a little guy who will take his antibiotics with no fight. Now to make it through the rest of winter with out any more doctor trips (knock on wood).

His "cheese" kills me.

On another note, I've been able to successfully substitute fruit snacks with raisins. I'm sure they have just as much sugar, but it makes me feel better anyway. I knew it was a success when they started asked for raisins over fruit snacks. Score.

How you doin'?

Merry Christmas!

Magic shoes

Ever since my kids were itty bitty I have fought to find shoes that I can
      1) GET ON their chubby, but short feet and
      2) have said shoe that I fight to get on actually STAY ON.

I can't even tell you how many adorable pairs of shoes were never worn because I couldn't accomplish those seemingly simple tasks. When my son was born, I had mostly resigned myself to the fact that he would just be barefoot until he was 2, since I couldn't even keep socks on the kid. He is BUSY though, and I knew I needed to find shoes that would be fast, easy and most importantly would stay on his feet!

Enter Freshly Picked Moccasins, soft leather shoes that are flexible, easy to get on and by a streak of genius DO NOT FALL OFF. In the 12 months Bub has been wearing his I can count on one hand the number of times he's wiggled out of one (never both).

Elk Hide. Love this color, and seriously the softest leather ever.

Even better though, he really likes them. At 18 mo old, he's started to be more interested in what he's wearing and given a choice, he will always choose moccs.

While I love these for my boy, I was a bit skeptical in getting a pair for my 3 year old girl. She is a typical 3 year old, messy, active and a bit crazy. I was excited to get to review a pair for my daughter to see how they held up to her crazy active antics.

Weathered brown.

Pumpkin received a pair of weathered brown and it's been a little over one month of extensive wear (trips to the park, shopping, walks around the block, toddler length hikes etc) and I am happy to say they are still good as ever. She has started to wear in her little toe prints (which I love). She loves them as much as her brother and has never once complained about feel (and believe me she would, girlfriend makes me cut out EVERY. SINGLE. TAG.). Now to get a purple pair (she's obsessed, all she asked for Christmas was a purple wallet, oh and Frozen underwear, because come on, she's 3.)

Singing, dancing, and of course on her tip toes.

Even better, Freshly Picked is giving away a pair of moccs to one lucky follower. To enter, simply follow @pumpkinandthebub and @freshlypicked on instagram and tag friends below my giveaway post! Easy peasy.

These shows have been everywhere!

Lumberjack Lovin'

Growing up in one of the only even remotely liberal towns in Idaho I have a soft spot for all things hippy and this crew from Rich Hippies is incredible. This Lumberjack sweatshirt is organic cotton featuring exclusive art to Rich Hippies.

My little twinners.

Rich Hippies is a husband / wife team (Joey and Lana) newly relocated to Nashville from NYC. In addition to their clothing line, they are also the editors of makingahouseahome.com, and Joey writes music for film, TV, and commercials full time.

Hip Hip Hooray!

As if that wasn't enough, Lana also owns a small children’s and home shop in East Nashville, also called Rich Hippies. I complain about my life being busy, but I'm obviously mistaken!

The details in the print are fantastic. I love the birds and trees in the beard. So rad.

A little more about the brand:

What made you decide to start your business?

Our baby Atlas was a fat baby . A really fat baby (we honestly didn't notice, love is blind, right?) and almost all the clothes we bough pinched his belly so we made a pair or organic yoga pants, and the rest is history.

Why yes I do reward him with fruit snacks for not screaming :)

How did you come up with your brand name?

We were in LA staying with some friends making up ridiculous shop names while driving. My husband Joey and friends were laughing hard at “Enchanted Fur-est” for a pet shop, and my friend Sarah and I were chatting about a boutique we would want in Silverlake, and that’s how the name Rich Hippies came up. My dad always called me a hippy (vegetarian at 5 years old will do that) so it felt right.

Seriously, I would die for that hair.

Any advice or lessoned learned from your experience so far?

Just do it. Don’t wait. There is no such thing as “ready”. It’s a myth.

What are / were some of your goals for the year?

My goal was to open a shop, and we did three weeks ago! I want to host maker events soon. We have so many great makers we sell, it’s a dream to have them come teach a craft to the local ladies of Nashville.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Time travel + pause buttons.

What’s something about you most people don’t know?

I have so many tattoos I lost track of how many.

Thank you so much Lana! I'm so excited to see what's in store from you guys as you get settled in Nashville! Head on over to Rich Hippies now and enter PandB to save 20% off through 12/2/2014 at 4:30 pm EST!
